Hairspray

Having shipped the kids off to their grand-parents for the weekend (our first free weekend for many, many months!) I thought I should take Sheena out for a night on the town.  Following a lovely Chinese meal in "China Blue" (a favourite of ours in Renfield Street - love their chicken jiang nan, and their kung po scallops!), I gave in to Sheena (well it was the only one left that wasn't sold out!) and went to see Hairspray.  I had read some of the hype surrounding the film, and the claims that it was the new Grease for the 21st Century - but I had my doubts.

However, I must admit it was a really good movie - and in fact one I'd like to see again, and I don't say that often!  Good music, lots of laughs, and fun performances from a few big names including John Travolta (as a woman!), Michelle Pfeiffer - and for fans of West Wing, Allison Janney (C.J.).  Keeps your feet tapping, and your face smiling - a good "feel good" film.  If you're looking for something to see - you will enjoy!!
